availability arising out of the implementation of NAFTA.
As a reinsurance intermediary, Mr. Wright has supported health insurers as well as workers compensation
and property/casualty insurers in the development and implementation of a "24 Hour" product. He also assisted the CA Association
of Joint Powers Authorities enact legislation allowing pools in that state to purchase reinsurance. Mr. Wright currently places
reinsurance for several provider owned health insurers and IPA’s.
As a regulator with the State of Washington, Division of Risk Management, Mr. Wright was responsible
for the development and implementation of legislative regulations governing local government self-insurance programs and program
oversight for both property/casualty and employee benefit plans. Previous to working for the State, Mr. Wright was the Risk
Manager for the Washington Counties Risk Pool.
Mr. Wright’s consulting work began assisting Union Bank clients develop alternative risk financing
programs in response to the insurance crisis of 1985. Later he was a workers compensation safety consultant, assisting self-funded
clients identify hazards and reduce their claims expenditures through prevention and return-to-work programs. His current
projects include assisting underwriting managers develop new programs and secure new insurers and reinsurers for specialized
product lines. Also, Mr. Wright provides consultative and brokerage services to self-funded group health and workers compensation
employers for their direct contracts with local physician communities and hospitals.
Mr. Wright earned his Associate in Risk Management in 1989.
